Just as long as some old songs are played. But do you think this video could be possibly a trailer for a DVD of some sort ?

I'm sure its been done on many forums before this. Thought it might be interesting to getting something like this going since its a new board. Rate the Keys albums to date. I bet it will be pretty different across the board.
1.) Rubber Factory- Along with A&R most complete album imo
2.) The Big Come Up- A record made in 02' that sounds like it was made in 42', timeless
3.) Attack & Release- Opened up new doors, great album from start to finish
4.) Thickfreakness- Personally my favorite Keys song starts the album
5.) Magic Potion- Though at the bottom of my list, I find myself playing songs from this album on guitar more than any other.

I didn't not include Chulahoma in my list because it was not original material but if I did include it, it would be number 1 for me. There might be 1 or 2 other albums I've ever heard that hit me like that one. I started it, you finish it.

My friend is going to interview Pat Carney for the Firestone High School Student Newspaper on TBK finally having their pictures put up on the school wall of fame. He wants people to throw some questions at him, so if any of you guys have really good questions for Pat, drop it off here. No guarantees that it will make it to Pat, but most likely a he'll answer one question from me.

So the front page to the forum has an article about Lonely Boy reaching number 2 on Triple J's top 100 songs for 2011.

NOW - firstly, I take nothing from the band we all love. Good on 'em. I've said in other posts they deserve everything they can get.

BUT - much like there big arena shows now, for me this is a little bitter an accomplishment. I lived in Aus for 5 years, and head to and from there for work regularly. There is often a vibe there that they stick to their rock roots and how awesome they are for it. However, the whole time I was there, their choice of top 100 songs (triple j is as bad as many "rock" radios, spamming the same 50-100 songs on rotation over n' over regardless of the "theme" of the hour) consists of PINK, BLINK182, GREENDAY etc. etc. Whilst Nickelback, at the time I was there, were topping these charts on said radio.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooo, i like the site, i like the homepage articles n' reading about the band i enjoy, i like the band, their back catalog, i don't not like El Camineo (but it isn't my favourite), but success like this is empty for me. Triple J is in any serious music fan's world a bit of joke, its a standard junk "rock" radio playing the same old songs over n' over. Having a Black Keys song thrown into this pot, is a bit rough, albeit pleasing that they're getting SOMETHING.

Shit...i dunno what the point of this post is. Drunken internet ramblings are fun.

BUT basically - I'd be keen on hearing any Australian fans out there opinion on triple J. Its powder puff rock mixed with Sweet Child o' Mine and a load of ACDC,...the later seems to be the crucial ingredient that makes ppl think its a cool station O_O (not bashing ACDC or GnR, but a few cool songs general ppl think are mean, shouldn't carry the rest).

Eg. Lightening Crashes and Creed songs are JJJ's playlists.

http://www.amazon.com/Triple-J-Hottest-100-V-11/dp/B0001MXOSC/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1327641078&sr=1-2

Again - i dunno my point, not trolling, reading about success of bands you support is great, but for me .... .this is weightless/substanceless, despite being an accurate report of their popularity...which is deserved.

God I'm confused <img src="http://theblackkeysfanlounge.com/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_razz.gif" title=":P" class="bb_smilies" />

I'm a drummer and I've never been impressed by Pat, I've always found him very predictable and not skilled at all.
There's nothing on El Camino that can change my mind at all, in my opinion he's the male version of Meg White. For example, I've never heard/seen a drum roll from Pat...I'm not even sure if he knows the essential drum rudiments.
Find me a drum beat that is more than just average.

A new music startup called "Switchcam" is algorithmically recreating concerts by stitching together fan footage. The video is all synced up to the exact second so that you can switch camera angles and still be in the same moment in the concert.

crookedbill on "CCR and TBKs"

so i've been listening to a lot of CCR this last year, alongside TBKs of course and am realizing how similar these two bands actually are. i've had friends and aquaintances tell me TBKs are "the new Zeppelin" or "the new Stones" or whatever, but i think if they actually had a classic rock analogue it'd definitely be Creedence Clearwater Revival. hear me out (i'll write as if CCR were still active).

1) both bands are "American" bands, through and through. they aren't Brits or outsiders lusting over and mimicking American blues. they're Americans drawing from the rich American musical tradition: blues, R&B, rock/rockabilly, folk, and country (TBKs exploring and championing hip-hop fits here as well). they both often cover old standards and draw inspiration from a variety of roots/Americana sources with natural ease and no pretension.

2) neither band is "flashy" or particularly "hip" like their peers at the time. Zeppelin, The Doors and the Stones were cocky and flamboyant, performing in ridiculous outfits or shirtless, whereas CCR were a workhorse band that performance in modest country clothing: denim, plaid, jeans etc. TBKs are the same (compared to the highly stylized appearance and performance styles of The White Stripes or Strokes etc.). both bands also have a healthy appreciation for facial hair.

3) both bands had an extremely high output of music for their time. CCR released 6 albums in three years, while TBKs released 7 albums (not including 3 more solo or side projects) in less than a decade. the casual fan though can barely name an actual album title or knows their "other" songs, but they can name and hum at least a few hits. granted CCR had way more actual "hit" songs.

4) the most obvious similarity between these bands is both CCR and TBKs have singers with amazing and distinct voices who are neither from the south nor are black, but sing in those styles so convincingly that some might never even question their actual origins (when i played my dad TBKs years ago, he never questioned that Dan wasn't black, and my dad is a diehard blues fanatic). John Fogerty was from Berkley CA, not "the bayou" or any other southern place. i don't need to remind anybody here where Dan is from. to their detriment, some critics question Fogerty and Auerbach's "authenticity" and blast them for mimicking "black" vocals, but the fact remains: there's no pretension to what they do and their vocal and musical talents can't be denied.

anyway, maybe i'm just being captain obvious here, but i was pleasantly surprised by reading this month's Rolling Stone magazine article where Dan says the only "classic rock" band he really likes or identifies with is CCR. yes, exactly! <img src="http://theblackkeysfanlounge.com/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":)" class="bb_smilies" />

didn't someone predict they'd be in teen beat not so long ago? It's amazing the work that's been done to get them into so much press.

Today's surprise was bon appetit magazine. Dan rides around Nashville with a food editor and chef eating a a bunch of places. I'm a Prince's Hot Chicken fan myself.

My favorite part of the article was the recommendation to go find the Thickfreakness album. cudos for the writer.
