Yeah Blakroc wasn't promoted at all. I remember watching the webisodes, paraphrasing here but Dame Dash was all "this is gonna be huge, we gotta formulate a marketing strategy for this, this is gonna make millions" "marketing marketing marketing" then he released the Camaro line and Dan and Pat slapped him on the wrist for that. I remember Dan or Pat said they were a little upset about that in an interview.

I think they will do another hip hop project for sure, or add even more elements of that to their sound, their hip hop influences are too strong not too. Maybe not a Blakroc 2, but we will see something

I definitely understand their hesitation at putting out Blakroc 2, the whole thing could get played out pretty quick and TBK IMO have always consciously tried to stay fresh and genuine.
However, we know that Dan is still somewhat involved in the hip-hop community with that Freddie Gibbs track, whatever that might mean. I really like his chorus hook on that one too, Dan could totally be the new Nate Dogg haha.
Anyways, since I like Blakroc but I love their in-house releases and Keep It Hid, I'd rather hear more of the latter sooner than the former. However it would be nice to hear the complete tracks at some point down the line.

interview with the D from http://ht.ly/2hg9f

There have been rumors of a "BlakRoc, Part Two."

Dan: I don’t think so, although we do have half a record finished. We might get that out there at some point, 'cause there's some really great stuff. I don't know how….We just don't know if we want to do it, or if the world needs it. It was a project, an experiment. We did it and it was successful and that was about it….We paid for that whole project ourselves, and while we didn't lose any money, we certainly didn't make any money. It was a really fun experience. I just don't know if we want to do it again.

I definitely loved some of the tracks..mostly loved the backing tracks. They shouldve used more underground MCs I think. There are a lot of tracks ..the one with NOE for instnace..where he like talks over the track in the beginning..drives me nuts. He just sits there and makes noises over the instrumental before rapping..its almost like if someone was palying was to busy on a track. I do enjoy the tracks with Mos , RZA , and Raekwon cause they just feel like a perfect match with the Keys' instrumentals

I liked the music on Blakroc but didn't care for most of the tracks and MC's.

I liked watching those videos each week that took us through the recording process.

I think they had a shit-ton of fun at The Bunker while recording, but it's not my thing. I only dabble with hip hop. Not a head. but as a casual hip hop fan, my opinion is that it is almost more of a "rap" album than a hip hop album (due to the MC's involved, other than MosDef and such, of course)

Also, I'd like to point out that this was bound to happen - The Black Keys were born to bridge the gap between soulful rock and hip hop. Patrick has always brought those hip hop beats. Dan mixed with Pat is equal to The Black Keys mixed with MC's.

And in my opinion, Dan mixed with Pat is greater than The Black Keys mixed with MC's. <img src="http://theblackkeysfanlounge.com/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_wink.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" />

I dont think Blakroc was promoted that much. Yes they released the Camaro..dumb and odd.. Here Dame Dash wanted to get away from "wack world" and he stereotypically releases a Blakroc camaro..stupid. But I also think that was all Dame Dash and had nothing to do with TBK. But other than the camero i didnt see much for it online or anything. Heck they sold it only in indie record stores..that takes guts..I really think to Dan and PAt all they cared about was the musical aspect of this album. Dame Dash was the one who set up the MCs and thats really all they cared about..they rest of the "hoopla" was all dash doin his own thing.

anybody notice how the album that isn't just the black keys is getting the absolute shit promoted out of it??

i think it gives a good nod towards the fact that Dan and Pat are in charge of what they are doing with their own music and not the record company because they have never not even with brothers pumped out this much promo crap.

i don't think it would have sprung to their mind's to say hey we are so awesome lets put our name on a camaro!! i think thats somebody else's business there. Dan and Pat obviously had control on the music but not so much the whole game.

a pretty dope promo poster for the documentry I'd say. as well as all of the still shots on the inside of Blakroc vinyl and what is currently on their official website.
I imagine the book included in the delux package that was recently announced will have the same style.

anyone know who is behind their crdeative department? whoever they is....they're solid

Buster: I checked out that preview video (found on Google, not CC website) and it almost gives you chills. I wanna see that.

I was expecting Dan to be involved bc of the title. TBK have no connection, just letting everyone know.
