I would have liked Ike to be involved with the album. Too bad that didn't work out. I guess if you beat your wife enough, karma might decide to take your ass out at an inopportune time in your life... <img src="http://theblackkeysfanlounge.com/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_wink.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" />

Too soon?

I realize that they wouldn't have worked with Dangermouse if they didn't want to. I'm just saying that is not my favorite choice the band has made.

I wonder if Ike Turner would have been alive to produce the album-what would people say aout that now?

Eh? Anyone? Too much Frank, no? Leave the toys and dinosaur puppets in the kids play-room. <img src="http://theblackkeysfanlounge.com/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_lol.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" />

Danger Mouse is a-okay with me. I can't believe people are more worried about Danger Mouse than the whole puppet situation.

Yes I was being feceatious...buy in a playful way. I'm sure Nappy knows what he's talking about and I enjoy reading his posts.

The tongue-in-cheek point I was making was the music industry is all about money. I think we'd all agree that there wouldn't be a Black Keys band to listen to, unless you lived in Akron, if the music just didn't make money.

So we can never know for sure.

Personally I think that Pat and Dan (fuck, I'm already talking like I know 'em, haha!!) are creative genius (genii, whatever) and they've taken a music genre lost long ago and brought it to a new generation. Every album is different in a very good way.

I would hope that they are their own designers, but if not, who gives a Coronation Street roof cat?

The music is still cream to me.

If you think there is too much Danger Mouse then dont listen to the songs/album. The Black Keys brought in Danger Mouse..they approved of everything he wanted to do..im guessing no one has read or seen interviews of TBK talking about Danger Mouse..they considered him a part of the group during that album..he played on it and suggested certain things. My whole point is that the band asked for Danger Mouse.

So I haven't read every post on this topic, just skimmed but....

To answer the title question: "Too Much Dangermouse?"

I say yes. Too much.

It is possible for a band to grow and evolve without overproduction. This is evident in the live shows during the A&R tour. One could tell their music evolved, yet it sounded raw and powerful... something that was lost with Brian's production.

TBK does not need to sound 100% the same as they used to but they also don't need fancy production just to sound like they are "evolving". The new stuff I hear is still good but it sounds like Otis Redding doing a toothpaste commercial. The soul might still be there but...

That is just my two cents.
