The Black Keys got me into a lot of weird stuff that I never would've been listening to years ago. I used to listen to strictly classic rock with Nirvana being the "newest" band that I liked. After hearing TBK I started searching for other bands from the 2000's and on that I missed while being musically ignorant, like the strokes, which lead me to try out odder stuff like Arcade Fire, which in turn lead me back to some older bands like the Pixies, The Replacements, and Modest Mouse. So I guess you can say everything I listen to now I started listening to because of the black keys

Pixies, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire.. I like your style!. Although I dont The Suburbs by Arcade Fire. Its so lazy, compared to Funeral and Neon Bible. In my opinion, of course. Funeral though, is one my favorite albums.. Ever. "We're gona get Tom Waits, Tom Jones, and Thom Yorke to do a duets record"- Pat Posted 5 months ago #

Someone might have already mentioned it, but Rival Sons are a band I've really been into lately...not to mention the Greenhornes and Radio Moscow. Posted 5 months ago #

Thanks haha. And really? I loved the suburbs. However, if I heard it before funeral I may have passed the band up, so I guess I see what you mean. The power in his voice on funeral is what got me hooked on them. I have the same relationship with Arcade Fire that I do with the black keys. I like all their albums equally but for different reasons. So I can't really pick a favorite or least favorite album. Posted 5 months ago #

Seriously about every band in this forum I listen to because of the black keys, they seriously showed me some weird stuff but I love it. One band Id particularly like to mention is a band called the Shivering Timbers. Dan produced their album and its so good. Shivering Timbers is very good. I saw them open for Jessica Lea Mayfield ( another artist I discovered because of the black keys) and was immediately in love with them. Although as much as I like their album, I think theyre a way better live band, and that energy they have live didn't seem to cross over well in album form. But that's just my opinion. Yeah, I thought they were great live, but I've only seen them play once. I live about an hour away from both Akron and Cleveland so I guess I'm lucky there. I'm pretty sure they're recording a new album, so maybe after that comes out they'll start touring more outside of Ohio. Posted 4 months ago #

Death: early 70s pioneer punk band: [url=
Admittedly - my "because of the black keys" was only because this band showed up in the "also like" list of videos on youtube when I was on a Black Keys video jag Posted 4 months ago #

Death reminds me a tiny bit of The Gories. Don't know if you ever heard of them. They aren't very technical, but damn do they rock.

Not sure if this counts, but I began listening to the Arctic Monkeys in 2003 because Q Magazine compared them to The Strokes. Stopped listening to them for a few years; when I found out they're on tour with TBK I first was like, "What?! Completely different sounds". But then I got into their most recent albums which are fucking phenomenal imo. To date: I've been a fan since early 2002 and I have attended 20 of their concerts and 2 of Dan's solo. I have also met Patrick quite a few times, but never Dan unfortunately. The Black Keys are a part of my soul. Posted 4 months ago #

I thought the same thing at first, but I love how they just don't care and have a blast playing anyways. I bought an album of theirs and really liked it. Posted 4 months ago #

I found a new band recommended recently on another Black Keys site and they're killer- they're called Brutal Jooks http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/believer/id505627081?ign-mpt=uo%3D4 and yeah, Radio Moscow is awesome too! Posted 2 months ago #

Long before i joined this site i would peek in now and again and saw somebody mention DeepSeaGreen on another thread. Went and checked them out and it's now my mission to see them live sometime Think as somebody else said, pretty much everything they listen to these days has been because of The Black Keys in some shape or form. Goes the same for me. Can't remember how i discovered this band, but i love em' too much education is a fart in the the dark - Charles Bukowski Posted 2 months ago #
