I've only recently have gotten into the Black Keys, but man I haven't geeked out about a band like this for a while. I just decided to get A&R on a whim after going through a Led Zep phase. Since April, I've been trying to gather up all of their albums and ep's before the winter...only Chulahoma is left, and I need a real copy of Rubber Factory.

Apart from Dan's solo album, I haven't checked out any bands because of The Black Keys, yet. I think I've seen Brimstone Howl back in the day when they were first starting out and had a different name. I'll need to check out their newer stuff considering they are right down the highway in Lincoln.

Not sure how I didn't mention Junior Kimbrough earlier. I've always been into raw blues but somehow, like many others, did not find Junior until I found the Keys. I don't think there is anyone more influenctial on me and my playing than Junior. People ask me why I dig the blues and why I like playing the blues. They tell me I have nothing to be blue about. That is no doubt true, but what did Junior have to be blue about? He had any women he ever wanted, threw a rocking party every Sunday night, had his own bachelor pad though he had a common law wife. I know he had a tough upbringing but other than that, sounds like it had it pretty good.

@thelengths Couldn't agree more.
The 'Sunday Nights: Songs of Junior Kimbrough' compilation and other bands who were influenced by him covering his tracks (double disc) is a great starting point for those interested.
The Black Keys are, of course, on there

I learned about Radio Moscow through The Black Keys a while back. Dan produced and engineered Radio Moscow's first album. Radio Moscow and The Black Keys are my two favorite bands of all time now.

Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to book a show with Radio Moscow, they were on their way to move from Iowa to North California. the guys also crashed at my place. I was blown away how amazing, humble, almost shy and grateful they were, really cool guys. They signed all of my C.D's, posters and gave me a free t-shirt.

When we were at my apartment after the show, I asked Parker (guitar and vocals)what was it like to work with Dan? He said " ...Dan is a cool dude .... He doesn't like it when you mess up too much ..." also "He made us work 12 hrs a day for three days straight" no wonder why that album is so fuckin' good.

The Main Street Gospel

This 7" was produced by Dan the summer of '08 and released last year through Smoke Signals. Their full length album is scheduled to come out on TeePee Records spring 2010.

Yeah man, that was an awesome time. I talked to Paul Marrone (RM's live drummer) for quite a bit, he is a real cool guy. I also met vinny his brother who is kind of annoying hahaha. Paul told me about his side project called Cosmic Wheels, it has pretty much the same sound of Radio Moscow, only him and his brother are in it tho. Paul does Guitars/Drums/Organ/Vocals/Slide Guitar/Sitar/Percussion and his brother plays Bass. Paul moved to California with Radio Moscow, but his brother stayed in Kansas city I guess he can continue over there without him....

if you dig Radio Moscow you will love Cosmic Wheels

Wow, The Heavy IS Heavy. And Radio Moscow does have some sick guitar in their stuff!I Can see why Dan jumped all over the opportunity to produce them. Can't believe Cosmic Wheels is yet to be signed! Lots of great taste in music in this forum. Keep the suggestions coming!

The Heavy are (is?) awesome. They just released a new album, The House That Dirt Built, that I think is better than the first. They are coming to Philly in February..can't wait
