What is in your opinion the best current production guitars made today? Let's keep this cheap and non-vintage. Sub $1000

Criteria:
*good for slide
*plays great off the rack
*overdrives beautifully

I've been shopping ebay recently looking for old harmony's and airlines but I want to know what you think is a great current production guitar.

You play bass? Whats up?

Nope. I never played em. But you can't really say that a certain make/model guitar will ALWAYS play well off the rack. Gotta go find the right one.

Just basically telling you what I'd be looking at if I had $1000 to guitar shop.

Mostly I'd get the Fender '72 Tele at the top up there. The sunburst one. But the Gretsch would be worth a shot. The rest were just maybe's.

Wow, that Gibson 50's studio looks like what I've been waiting for Gibson to do for some time, P90's with a 50's neck, some decent finish options, and under $1000, I may have to go check this one out. Thanks for the thread funkmaster and the suggestion mirby.

If you're interested in a semi-hollow (like Dan's Harmony), a Epiphone Sheraton II or Casino (John Lennon-esque) might be worth a look.

Hahaha, no it doesn't complicate things. It just makes me feel like I can't be serious. Whatever though, I'm sure you are much more relaxed and easy going.

No problem. I was really interested in that gibson too. USA made les paul and p-90's, that's all I need to hear
