I'm a fan of scrubs. http://img.imtwelve.com/gallery/16gScrubs-JD-pancake-face4.gif

If I had to buy a guitar for less than 1000,

I would probably pick something like this

that airline is nice!

how much are the harmony reissues in USA? they are mostly about 1200 bucks by the time they get to me here. They are pretty damn cool though!

Shoot first. Ask questions later.

I've had a real hard-on for Reverend guitars recently. Haven't pulled the trigger on one yet, but it's a matter of time.
For the money, G&L's are hard to beat in the quality department, too. Those Reverend's are sexy, though....

As far as basses go these Italia's look pretty damn cool the supro one is kinda badass too, plus i love a semi hollow body bass!

I can't find a price anywhere though but i would assume they come into this price range but that doesn't matter shit cause you damn well didn't ask about basses! i just thought these were damn cool!

Oh and also the supro one has a piezo style pickup so that sounds wicked!

that eastwood tuxedo looks damn hot. great color scheme going on regardless of it being a reissue. the p90s send it over the top. I have an out of production Eastwood Rokes guitar that plays great. When I got the itch for a Firebird a few years back I went to a local dealer of theirs and every guitar on the wall was a total dog. So I can't say much for their QC.

On the other hand, I've got an Italia Speedster which is up there with the best playing guitars I have. I'm not big on humbuckers now and I have too much stuff overall so it's up for sale. Big chunky neck, very well dressed frets. It is a bit neck-heavy based on design but I moved the strap button to the back like on an SG and it balances much better. new for $600 but used for much cheaper. I will feel totally ripped off when this sells. I just don't feel like sinking more money into it to change the pups, etc.

here's some pix I shot to help sell it. hopefully something else goes first so I can keep it.

Agile guitars, the AL2000 and AL3x00 series are some of the best guitars you can get for the money, in an LP style, and I'd be willing to say their Tele and Strat counterparts are as good or better than the MIM stuff.
http://www.rondomusic.com/AL3000tobacco.html

Spec's for the AL3x00 series (3000 = abalone inlay, 3100 = Mother of Pearl)

Solid mahogany arch top body
Triple bound body, and headstock. Single binding on neck.
Nickle hardware, including die-cast Grover tuners with 18-1 turning ratio for ultra fine tuning (Model 102-18N)
Two Type V Alnico humbucker pickups for warm, traditional sound
The AL-3000 now comes with improved wiring improved pots (now higher voltage with brass shafts for reduced noise) and an improved pickup selector switch
Two volume and two tone controls, plus a three way pickup selector switch
One piece Mahogany set neck with 13.7" (350mm) radius neck for fast play and adjustable truss rod
Ebony fretboard with 22 Jumbo frets and real Abalone Trapezodial inlays
The AL-3000 features D'addario strings installed at the factory and a professionally installed graph tech nut
Individually hand filed frets for professional feel and playability
Width of the neck at the nut: 1 5/8"; at the 21st fret: 2 3/16"
Neck taper/thickness at the 1st fret: 21.5 mm; at the 12th fret: 23.5mm
Overall length: 40"; Scale length: 24.7"
Body thickness: 2" at edge; Width at the widest point: 13"
Bridge pole spacing is 3", and the Tail piece pole spacing is 3 1/4"
Actual Weight is only 10 lbs

If you like to do a little tweaking the AL2000's are a great modding platform. I have the goldtop with P90's, I replaced the P90's with Tonerider Vintage P90's and it plays, feels and sounds great, as good or better than any of the Epi counterparts
For 225 you get this

Here's a spec chart comparing the whole AL series
http://www.rondomusic.com/alspec.html

The Agile telecaster model

Traditional / retro-styled 3 piece body made of a beautiful solid alder wood
Professional Grover tuners offer an 18-1 tuning ratio for ultra fine tuning
Maple neck and Maple fretboard with dot inlays and 22 frets
Standard T- style fixed bridge with 3 adjustable saddles
Passive volume/tone controls with classic blade three way selector switch
Two vintage style single coil pickups
Width of the neck at the nut: 1 5/8"; at the 22st fret: 2 1/4"
Fingerboard radius: 254mm. Bridge plate dimensions are 3"W x 3 5/16" Tall. String spacing at the saddle is 2 3/16"
Overall length 40"
Width at the widest point: 13"
Actual Weight is only 9 lbs

Well I think the orig post said limit of $1000. So no offense to Agile or Rondo, but if I had $1000, I would probably go bigger. They might be great bang for your buck, and yes if they object/task was to find the best bang for your buck, they may very will be the winner, but yeah - for my money, I'd like something a little more spendy.

If I did go Agile/Rondo, I'd have a long look at this bad dog...

Not sure, but I'm thinking about trying to find a way to buy it!

Seriously. I've been wanting a single-coil guitar, and something with a bigsby, so this thing really fits the bill. They sell cases for $60 so you can have it shipped in a case. My only worry is whether or not pickups can be easily swapped out (in case they stink).

WAY back in 2001 or so, I bought an Agile Les Paul copy, back before Gibson threatened to sue Agile and made them change the horn to look less like a Gibson, it was a sweet guitar. I had no complaints. The only thing that can be tough is resale value. Trying to find a buyer for a no-name guitar is tough. Here's my old Agile LP and my Peavey Classic 30 with 112E ext cab...

PS- it was designed in part by the members of the Harmony-Central forums. That's where I first started learning about guitars and amps and tone and speakers and modifying, etc. I haven't been on there in years but I spent a lot of time there in my beginner days. Great place to learn/chat (at least it WAS back then).

That's why they call it the HARM model.

Those Italia guitars look great, and I'm a huge fan of the Tuxedo.

I've heard great things about the reverend guitars, especially the old USA made ones.

That Gretsch G5122 is a great guitar. The pickups are the Gretschbuckers in those. I've heard they're really not representative of what a good filtertron should sound like. Some english mount TV Jones pickups can drop right in on these with no mods to fit them in. I've heard that the Electromatic line is a great way to get into a Gretsch.
