Who said The Black Keys hadn't hit the big time? We have surely reached the tipping point.

First Kelly Clarkson covered 'Lies' now this character Casey has had a crack at 'I Got Mine'.

It seems to get anywhere on American Idol or rather after the show, you have to tick off a TBK tune. This vid from a fan, the vid title says it all, reproduced here verbatim: "Casey James American idol tour 2010! (Auburn hills, MI!)"
I hope they will be at the next TBK gig too.

Hilarious

ps I'm in the team 'I hope as many people as possible hear the black keys as possible' camp. I just never thought they would get covered by American Idol contestants. Silly me.

How ironic that a band like the Keys who always refused to be a "blues rock" band get to deliver the model for the most simple blues rock wankery.

Wham bam, thank you m'am.

haha thats fucking terrible! he's not playing the main riff some other jerk off is doing that and then he's playing fucking shithouse lead over the top and terrible singing very poor effort altogether! also stratocaster? in bright blue? i believe its meant to be a telecaster to be anywhere near black keys?!

Shoot first. Ask questions later.

If I'm Dan or Pat, this probably feels something like a surprise prostate check.

Yikes. I'm curious too of what Dan and Patrick think about this.

To be honest, I bet they're pretty flattered, and pumped to be cashing in another songwriting cheque.

It's certainly different turned into a full-band arena rock track, and make no mistake obviously TBK's original track is way cooler/superior on record and in every live performance, but I gotta say, I didn't hate it. The breakdown solo had an SRV-esque bit on it (from his version of Voodoo Chile). Doesn't breadown and build back up at all though, which is the best part of this track IMO, the end explosion is insaaaaaane.

Agreed on the gay guitar choice though.

I would highly doubt they would be flattered. I could barely sit through it. The guy has that standard modern "rock"/nickleback type voice , which I find very annoying. There is a reason he was on american idol hahah. I did have a good laugh at the comments by his fans saying he is bringing the blues back and all tons of crap. Pretty sad what pop music fans view as "bluesy"

Yeah agreed that the singing was brutal, but I dunno, maybe I'm just amused to hear a different take on the song, but again, I didn't hate it.

Jeepers fucking creepers man. I go away for the weekend and this happens?

This is the neutered version of I Got Mine. Dan has more talent than this guy in just his left cowboy boot. Probably makes ya feel good to know that people are covering your songs though - big compliment. And the fact that this guys sucks so much ballsacks only makes the Keys' original version that much more badass.

some retarded chic had this to say

SORRY ... but Casey SOARS past the original version which is thin and drippy by comparison. Casey sets this song on fire with passion, variation, angst and accent, and, unfortunately, the original pales next to this performance by Casey. Casey has made this a whole new song and has made it his own. Casey's version is mad hot.

Wow. Glam up someone else's tune and people still mistake it for talent.

shoot the stupid bint who said this was better than the original. this is an insult. she obviously has never seen the original live!!! layering a tbk song with uneeded shit shows for starters how little respect he has for the artist. his singing has absolutely no passion in, just sounds like he's shouting the line n then shouting the next line. if you gonna cover someone, do it with a bit of your own soul but mainly with repect! thats my motto anyways! know everything about the band and song before you just pick it out the blue and cockslap the original with this horrific assualt on the ears!!
