Anyone know what flavor of fuzz Dan is using in his live setup currently? In the past I've seen pics of a Sunface, Hoof and Green Muff on his live show pedal board at various times. Looking for some inspiration for a new pedal.

Thanks, you just saved me the purchase price of a new pedal. I think I'll mess with combining pedals instead. Posted 1 year ago #

I've never heard of anyone using two of the same pedal. Does two muffs really double the sound? "Love is the coal that makes this train roll" Posted 1 year ago #

I could be wrong, but I don't think Dan is stacking the green muffs. Just has two at different settings so he doesn't have to adjust, or possibly a back up. Posted 1 year ago #

Yeh my thinking was one is mild grisly fuzz as in I got mine verse and one was tear it up same old thing fuzz. Same deal as dropping the volume I guess? He's just pulling the ole switcheroo on us! Shoot first. Ask questions later. Posted 1 year ago #

I think jj & magic are right with Dan is running two fuzz's but not stacked. On the video of Tighten up from Glasto at about 2:58 he hits the wrong muff then changes to another muff about 3:12. Have a watch and tell me what you's think?

Yep it's two green muffs, one set for little fuzz, one set for lots o fuzz. He might use them both at the same time for certain situations but maybe not. It would be funny to see him jump in the air and land on both pedal switches at the same time (one with each foot), heh. "I ain’t sayin’ you treated me unkind. Analogman Sun Face with NKT275 transistor option and sundial option, or the 4-knob Hoof Fuzz would also be great choices. In fact, I would get a Hoof before I bought a Green Muff. They sound so very similar to my ears and the Hoof is built far superior, IMO. Posted 1 year ago #

I don't know but just buy a Hoof instead. Muffs are built so cheaply. Those pots get scratchy after a year and the switches are cheapo. Or just build yourself a clone. That's what I did. Not trying to tell you what to do but it's such a waste of $$$ to buy a Green Muff at this point. They go for way more $$$ than they're worth. I built a clone for about $65-$70 worth of parts and a couple hours of my time. Sounds amazing. Sounds almost as good as the Hoof. http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/projects/17-distortion/108-big-muff-pi Posted 1 year ago #

Soulbender and Green Muff are going for stupid $$$ prices because they aren't available new anymore. I'm telling you man, if you want Dan Auerbach live fuzz sounds, the Hoof is your guy. If you buy it and don't like it, I'll buy it from you. Posted 1 year ago #
