Ok, it's time for me to understand the real story of this guitar!

Let's see the evolution..

1st version (The big come up era):

3 color sunburst body, maple neck (in some photos you'll notice a "D" (I think) on the top of the headstock), black pickguard, DiMarzio pickups.. but now the strange thing: a sort of floyd rose/kahler bridge (with fine tuners)..
Continue to read to understand why it's strange..

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

2nd version (Thickfreakness era):

This is tele in the Thickfreakness era, same neck, same pickups, the black pickguard is now replaced by a white one, same body but.. What??? Can be noticed that the tremolo bridge is DISAPPEARED without leaving a trace..IS THIS POSSIBLE??? I don't think so..
The options are the followings:
1. He has changed the body with an identical one..
2. He has repainted the body of the same colour, after fixing the hole leaved by the tremolo..
3. It's another guitar..

But all these options sounds strange to me..
HOW YOU CAN EXPLAIN THIS "MYSTERY"?

3rd version (Rubber factory era):
This is the most known version:
Same body, same neck, same pickups, but now with a bigsby vibrato and a particular pickguard, made of leather, right?

It's hard to write all these things in English for me, but now I'm quite satisfied, I hope someone will help me to resolve this tele's mystery!!!

I would say the first guitar is a completely different guitar.

You just got yourself an apple strawberry sea breeze wine cooler.

Another riflession:
If the first guitar is another, why he had 2 identical telecaster, especially in a period where they was relatively unknown as a group, and quite "Poorer" than now???

However, I am absolutely sure that neck and pickups are the same on all versions..

maybe he traded it for the new tele or its one of those trems that you dont have to drill into the body for like a Stetsbar or something

It could really be a tremolo like a Stetsbar (I don't know them), but I've not found a stetsbar with that shape... but is the most possible thing.. thanks Raunchy!

The 2nd version guitar is an american 62 reissue (originally with a rosewood fretboard) with the previos guitar's neck and pickups..

hard to say from the picture but it looks like the first one might have a slightly different finish color on the neck as well. Could just be the lighting but it looks like a lighter amber finish where the other two have a darker shade to them. My bet would be on the first one being a different guitar as well.

Not easy to say, the first pic is in black and white..
I'm quite sure that the neck is the same on all versions..

the "thickfreakness era" guitar does look a lot like a 62 reissue with an aftermarket neck. There isn't any Fender decals on it. This was the tele I remember seeing Dan play on Conan back in mid to late 03.

I thought now would be a fine time to mention that the neck on the Fender Jerry Donahue Telecaster has a "V" profile. That is, the back of the neck, where your hand rests and grips the neck, there is a distinct "V" shape to the back of the neck. Most guitars have more of a "C" shape profile.

I've watched a good number of vids and I've noticed that there isn't the Fender decal on all version, but only that little decal on the top of the headstock, that I've identified as a D (Dan? Donahue?)..
The neck is the same on all versions for me, looking at videos and pictures..
