Danleary, why do you think Dan uses his middelefinger on picking as well?
Watching (older ) TBK vids shows Dan using his indexfinger only.His middlefinger moves but not to pick strings.
I remember reading in an interview a couple of years ago,where Dan was asked about his fingerstyletechnique,that Dan says he uses his thumb and indexfinger only and that the middlefinger of his pickinghand just kinda hangs out there.(he laso said something like: if it was good enough for those bluesplayers then it's good enough for me)I can't seem to find that interview online.
Ofcourse, I could be wrong.

well I'm learning stack shot billy by watching the live at crystal ballroom dvd, slowing the video down around 500% so I can see which strings he's picking, and there are occasions where I can swear I see him pick with his middle finger (and not just chords) I could be wrong too though Ron Paul 2012 Posted 1 year ago #

I think you were right. Sometimes he does an upstroke with his index finger, but he hits more than one string, kind of like an upward sweep. The way he holds his hand, he is flicking his other fingers, but they don't actually touch the strings... only his index does. The way he holds his hand is different than when it was during Rubber Factory though, he's changed his technique a bit. He used the tele back then though, it might just be to accommodate the different style bridge etc. Posted 1 year ago #

Danleary - you mentioned there's not many good right hand tutorials out there. This guy's youtube channel really opened up some fingerstyle techniques for me. It's all acoustic, and not all of it translates to electric, so not all of it is useful for playing Keys stuff. Don't be turned off by the Kris Kristofferson lessons that are at the top right now.
