There is this new pic on TBK myspace of Pat and Dan jamming at Dan's studio. Looks to be some sort of Japanese guitar or a Sears/Teisco type. Just curious if anyone knew what it was.

It's a supro of some sort. You can see it on the headstock. You play bass? Whats up? Posted 1 year ago #

oh, cool. I have that same guitar. It's a Supro Lexington from the late 60s. Some of the last Valco made guitars from a time when they "merged" with Kay. They were a mix of mostly american and japanese parts, mostly american, but the electronics and pickups were classic Valco. Same type of pups found in Jack Whites Airline and just about every other National/Airline/Supro guitar from the 50s through the 60s. They're fun guitars and rare as hell. Posted 1 year ago #

Be aware almost every Valco guitar didn't have a truss rod. The necks are pretty durable, but if they're warped or twisted, they can be almost unplayable unless you know how to use wood clamps and a heat gun with ruining a nitro finish. Dicey business. But I'd say the sound is worth it. It was a happy day when I saw Dan use an old resoglas Coronado a while back. IKept waiting for him to discover that valco sound. Early Chicago at it's best. the lego-tar is more my style. "Since huge quantities of information can be computer-digitalized and transmitted, music researchers could, for example, swap records over the Net with "essentially perfect fidelity." - Rolling Stone, December 7, 1972 Posted 1 year ago #

@ TheBackwardTapes Papabear pretty much said it all. Late 60s, no way to really tell. If you're shopping for one yourself make sure you get one that's made in the USA. They made some lookalike guitars for a year or so after they moved production to Japan. Posted 1 year ago #
