dam, you can probably only hear this in the UK

For those who don't know, Zane Lowe is one of the most influential DJs around on his BBC1 radio show

Interesting he's pushing Tighten Up and not Howling For You, the first single

You just made my night yet again brucini. This is just what I needed after a long and hard night of work. The track seemed some what Attack & Release-esque... after first listen. This is the one track off the album produced by Danger Mouse so that makes sense. I definitely do expect and sort of hope that the rest of the album doesn't have that same sound. But I did enjoy the track.

And for those who are not in the UK, such as myself, you can always use a proxy to trick the BBC website into thinking you are actually in the UK if you are getting the "Not available in your area". Worked like a charm. Great post.

Assuming you use Firefox, you could do it manually by following the instructions on this link:

http://malektips.com/firefox_0016.html

But it is much easier to install the extension FoxyProxy in Firefox. Makes things much simpler, and you could configure the extension to use a specific proxy or your direct connection automatically by your specified sites.

You would just need to choose a proxy from a proxy list. You'll probably have to try a few before you find one that works, but they are definitely out there. If you're using Internet Explorer or any other browser then I couldn't tell ya, but I assume it would be similar to the first method.

i think this song is gonna be a grower just listened to it again... they are gettin a lot better with vocal melodies n guitar catchyness haha! i suppose i was expectin the drums to sound looser as well, sound a bti tight for tbk as in the snare sound n stuff... man its nuts coz this song drips old school but it really wouldnt be a miss on the radio today somehow theyve managed to get a cross section. gonna listen again now i think!

I agree it'll be a grower. I liked it the first time I heard it, but even more every time since then. Definitely getting into the vocals, and the intro I like for some reason.

Bummer. I'm too stupid to get this prox thing working. I hate that! The same with the Keys' YouTube channel. And to top it off, no tour dates in Germany. Grargl. Mph!

Wham bam, thank you m'am.

I can't get the stupid proxy thing to work either. Guess I'll just wait for it to leak else where.

I could probably get an MP3 of this after work today. i'd rather not monkey with proxies in the office.

First of all, only available in the UK is stupid.

2nd, that guy is a douche-bag... "From out of nowhere comes a Black Keys album called 'Brothers'. No word on the grape vine, no rumour, no warning, no nuttin'. No complaints. Big fan of Black Keys. Always have been. And the new tune 'Tighten Up' adds a little sweet soul to their dynamic blues. Here's hoping the other 14 tracks match up. As if they won't."

Yes there was a warning and a rumor and plenty of words on the grape vine. Surely this guy would have known about the upcoming record since he claims he has ALWAYS been a fan of the Black Keys. Since day #1? Really? Amazing. What a loser.

That being said, when I get off work I'll go home and use Firefox/proxy to listen to the track. If I get it working, I'll steal the song and put it on RapidShare or something for you guys to download.

[edit - original link replaced by The Black Keys MySpace which is now streaming the song. Link removed at the request of The Black Keys]

http://www.myspace.com/theblackkeys

If anybody or the admin brucini has a problem with this then please feel free to delete this post. It is just a recording of the stream. This mp3 is of the song, plus the very short interview after. Later I will try and get to editing the file to just a song, but hopefully this is ok.

Glad bajajeff posted it because I couldn't steal the file for some reason. It took me about 20 mins to get the whole proxy thing down. Never used them before. Anyhow, once I got to listen to the song, the Firefox download helper wasn't working like it normally does so I couldn't snatch the file.

It's a cool song for sure. I give it a B+. That Zane guy starts yapping during the song though. The good news is that he's yapping to/with Dan so it's not so bad. But listening to this is like listening to songs back in the day when you would tape them off the radio onto a cassette. That might be showing my age because most of you youngins are probably scratching your heads wondering wtf is a "cassette"... ha. Back in the day (before the internet) we music lovers would stay up all night listening to the radio on a boombox with our fingers on the button just waiting for the song to come on and then quickly press record (actually if you were smart, you had the record and play buttons already down and you just unpaused it once you wanted to start rolling).

That track has a lot less fuzz on it then we're all used to hearing but it's great that they did something different. Different is good. Especially when you've put out as many albums as The Black Keys have. Can't wait for May...
