Lot of icey cold bass lines on brothers. How could they possibly tour this album without one? I retract my statement after hearing Next Girl and Howlin for You live that they wouldn't need one.

I'm really down with the idea of Brothers shows beginning with Dan and Pat starting out every show themselves, blazing through a few dirty two-man bangers, and then being like "Ok, we're gonna get some friends up here to help us with the next few. Here's (insert some cool bassist from some cool band) and (insert some cool keyboardist from some cool band)" and totally rocking out with a fuller arrangement. I love the two-pronged attack but who cares about more players if the result is a fuller expanse of sound. I don't think it will come at the sacrifice of Dan or Pat's "voices" (playing style and impact). Maybe even get some horns on some of these numbers? Why not? I guess it's sacrilege to some diehard fans but these guys gotta expand their horizons at some point. Anyways they could play a few numbers with an accompaniment and then finish off the shows just the two of them again. When is Ron Burgundy finally gonna emerge from a crowd to back them with some Yazz flute on Same Old Thing? This blood red ass don't smell so good... Posted 1 year ago #

There were already reports of "new changes to TBK live shows" so.... sigh. You just got yourself an apple strawberry sea breeze wine cooler. Posted 1 year ago #

Wonder how much of the bass on this album was laid down by Pat Posted 1 year ago #

I think they will simply change the arrangements of the songs like what Dan did for Howlin' for You. I get the feeling Dan laid down the bass lines. I could see Pat playing it on something like Everlasting light, but those bass lines have Dan's playing style written all over them. Bringing in an organ player for the live show would be awesome. Yeah I definitely see them bringing in a keys player and bassist. I doubt it will be anyone well known. I would love to see them bring back Nick Movshon(bass) and Leon Michels (keys). They played with TBK on letterman and fallon for Blakroc and I thought they did a great job. They are apart of a big group of soul/funk bands from brooklyn. I definitely see them fitting in Posted 1 year ago #

the black keys is a two piece... as much as these songs would benefit massively with extra players, im going to see a two piece band live and i want to see how they struggle getting these songs down live and i think the songs would be better for it raw and gritty! imo you shouldnt do too much on an album if you cant reproduce it with your band to your satisfaction, they managed it with the A n R choones n they wer bangin without a backin band! thats just my opinion of course. wen white stripes did icky thump jack was playin a keyboard and the guit lol we didnt see anyone else comin in. awaits lashback "When the sweats dried in, It smells like Rock n Roll" Posted 1 year ago #

I hope the bass player is Rene Villanueva! Seriously, I think Hacienda should be the backing band for the Brothers tour. Why not stick with what has already worked? There are plenty of keys/organ on Brothers, so Hacienda's Abe Villanueva can handle those. Patrick Carney would of course be the drummer but Jaime can do some other percussion instruments and specialty drums/gongs/timpani/etc. And Dante can play 2nd guitar. What say you? Yeh did you see dan play solo?? i didnt get the chance he came to aus but not the west coast was pretty bummed about about that. Got the bootleg though and it def seems to work for dan. Their Drummer Jamie might get a little bored though haha and jealous! but i reckon big band for these tracks and then just the bass for like brooklyn bound and those sorts so they can play the songs live that they didnt before cause they couldnt scale them back enough. It'd be good. Shoot first. Ask questions later. Posted 1 year ago #

If Jaime gets bored he can comb his moustache or count all the cash he'll be making... And yes I saw Dan & the fast 5 twice. Once at The Metro in Chicago and once at Lollapalooza in Chicago. Both times were fan-FUCKING-tastic. I want some more. Posted 1 year ago #

I thought Hacienda backing Dan was great, and I'd dig seeing them work with the duo on some TBK songs. There really isn't a tighter band out there than Hacienda. That's the strongest thing about their newest album Big Red & Barbacoa - the tightness of the band playing together. The music and vibe/"sound" of the album are pure gold. They are the #1 band I'd want playing with me (if I could play worth a damn). Posted 1 year ago #
