“Akron’s a great place,” says Auerbach. “But we get to see all these great cities and spend time in these beautiful cities, and sometimes you come home and it’s a little bit of a bummer. We have to drive to Cleveland to go to Whole Foods and the West Side Market almost every week. To see an independent film, you’ve got to drive 40 minutes.”
Ouch. Well hopefully it will convince some people to build Akron up a little.
"I ain’t sayin’ you treated me unkind. You could have done better but I don’t mind. You just kinda wasted my precious time. But don’t think twice, it’s all right."

The thing that amuses me about what Dan says in this article is that, where I grew up, we had to drive to Akron to do anything fun.
But I appreciate Dan's quandry (oh, do I ever), and his possible move to Nashville has me feeling less guilty about the fact that I'm considering leaving Cleveland for Memphis in a couple of years.

When I'm rich I'm gonna shop at Whole Foods

The hottest women in the world shop at Whole Foods. If I was single, I'd go "pretend" shopping just to spy all those hot asses. Seriously, the ladies there are all stay at home trophy wives/girlfriends and whatnot, with really trim bodies.

I think Dan moving to Nashville could have a pretty interesting affect on the bands sound in the future. I may be uninformed here but I was always under the impression that Nashville's music scene consisted primarily of country and christian rock. Perhaps it does actually span across many different genres, but he would definitely be exposed to much more country music. An artists environment has a big effect on the works outcome and we saw in Brother's how that classic muscle shoals soul sound was imbedded in the fabric of the album. If Dan was indeed moving to Nashville, it would be interesting to see what kind of sound he would come up with or how his sound would evolve as a result of increased exposure to the country music sound. I'm not a fan of country except for willie nelson and Johnny Cash, although Cash spanned across and influenced many many genres. Your thoughts?

Nah, Jack White moved to Nashville, he's still doin what he does best.
Actually.. a lot of my favorite bands are based in Nashville and they're not country/christian rock/bluegrass what have you

Great point JrD, it would be cool to see a bit more twang or some other interesting spin on the next album. They should just travel to weird locations to record each album from here on out, no? Like record one from inside the catacombs, etc.

Sorry to get off topic for a sec but Mirbs hit something right on the head that I tell all my single friends. "Go high-end grocery shopping man, it's like fishing with dynamite". When my wife asks "Wanna go out to Jewel and pick up some groceries with me?" I'm saying, "Naw, just gonna hang around the house and strum the geetar", but when she says, "let's go hit up either Whole Foods or Trader Joes", I'm already half out the door with my dark sunglasses in hand. Best eye candy around, 30-35 year old milf's galore. I might of lost my grocery shopping privileges as of late due to my wondering eyes.

One of the benefits of being a vegitarian...sometimes I just have to goto Whole Foods. We don't have a Trader Joe's yet, but it's coming in the fall.
I usually go on Saturday afternoon, I don't usually spy too many good looking ladies my age range (mid-to-late 20's to mid 30's). I'm usually jazzed abuot the food. Sometimes better deals can be found there, and I usually play a whole foods skeptic. Plus the workers there seem like they're stoked to work at whole foods. I can't say the same about other grocery stores I go to.

Dan is definitely leaving Akron, from what I understand as soon as late August early September.

Sorry I can't contribute to this thread right now, I'm searching google for nearby Whole Foods locations.

Nothing wrong with him heading elsewhere for a bit. It's not like he hadn't given his all to the area, nor will he abondon it...i mean damn-he reps Akron at every show. And a lot of folks probably only know of or have interest in Akron because of dan and pat. And plain and simple: change is just necessary for a lot of people sometimes...for a variety of reasons. As much as he's a traveling musican nowadays, dude also has a family, and his production efforts/talents will allow him to enjoy less road time (yet still tour at he and pat's choosing) if he chose that route. Nashville makes sense in many ways.
And...
...Much respect to those on this forum who, in good nature rip whole foods, yet not a word of negativity about him moving. I actually expected some I'll words from the Ohio fan base.
