for me, ive been listening to a ton of Delta Blues recently, especially Robert Johnson and Son House. absolutely stellar stuff. especially considering that these guys basically invented the blues and pretty much made it up themselves.

oh yeh that too the other day i got a vinyl its an original 1976 Jazz Vogue pressing of 1957 + 58 recordings done by alan lomax in prisons.

Its called Murderers Home and Blues In The Mississippi Night

recordings of black guys that were in prison at the time. The very first blues recordings sorta stuff. You can hear them picking away in the chain gangs singing the blues to the chink of the pick everytime they strike in unison.

Very cool.

I've just recently gotten into Toronto indie act Make Your Exit. I've had the pleasure of seeing them improve at 3 different shows over the past year and they're really in their prime now. Check the videos on their myspace, some really visceral stuff.

They are a lot smoother than TBK but have some really nice melodic harmonies, and a saxaphone thrown in for good measure. Good for people who dig earlier My Morning Jacket, Fleet Foxes, maybe Broken Social Scene, that sorta thing. Plus they are awesome dudes, they are recording their next release right now and I really hope it gets them the industry attention they deserve.

This blood red ass don't smell so good...

Merle Haggard's new album is pretty great. I'm also listening to the new UNKLE record, Beck's new collaborative album, and a Motown compilation a friend made me. Those plus Brothers are cycling pretty heavily on Itunes.

I've just recently (about half an hour ago) come across this band called Flame Shark. From what I understand, they're from Chicago. But that doesn't matter. What matters is

THAT YOU GUYS LISTEN TO THAT SHIT RIGHT NOW.

Listen to the music, read the bio and help them make their new album.

*I'm in no way related to the band. I just found them and I'm blown away.

Wham bam, thank you m'am.

I'm looking forward to Ray LaMontagne's new album to drop.

Commercially speaking, since Trouble was released in June 2004, Till the Sun Turns Black released July 2006 and Gossip in the Grain released August 2008, I can only assume - and hope - that his new record will be pinged September 2010.

I love all of his work and he is what got me into playing guitar. It's hard to find a better singer..well, I think David Gray might be on par.

Hey, my name's Jack. I think Guinness is the most wonderful thing in the world...

...and then the Irish whiskey is poured. *sigh
