dudes, wayfarers have been "cool" rock n roll sunglasses for a very long time. way before the Black Keys. they never really went out of style.

Who said anything about morons?

Looky here what Hokes said in the post previous to mine...

That is why I posted my reply. Sorry, I guess I should have used the quote feature, you know, for all you non-morons...

It's not like they are this new thing everybody jumped all over this year. They been around a long time and musicians and actors/actresses have been wearing them a long time. So if it's a bandwagon thing, then the bandwagon has been going on since the 50's or so. Just trying to make conversation in this ridiculous thread. Apologies.

Stumbled upon this thread trying to answer this very question. Anyway, after figuring out the brand markings on the frames is for a brand called Mosley Tribes, I'm about 90% sure the style is "Gates" by Mosley Tribes.

Only $200+

Wayfarers have definitely become hipster essentials in the last year or two. They are classics though. Kinda like the Keys themselves - I guess the secret is out!

Movie trivia time - the Wayfarers Jake Blues wears in the Blues Brothers are actually tortoiseshell frames, not black.

"Since huge quantities of information can be computer-digitalized and transmitted, music researchers could, for example, swap records over the Net with "essentially perfect fidelity."

i know full well they have been in use by rock n rollers for a long while now but there was certainly a time were raybans wayfarers whatever you want to call them weren't seen in the music scene on a regular basis.

now if you go to a festival especially here in the UK every twat in the audience has a pair usually made of white/pink/blue/black plastic (not real ones obviously) and a lot of the bands are wearing the real thing.

i remember the time when aviators were the glasses of choice for the festival circuit. again they have also been worn throughout "rock n roll history" but my point was more about how they all of sudden become cool to the masses. each year there are certain fads that seem to crop up in the mainstream music scene!

I don't like 'em. They look like Rivers Cuomo glasses with tint.

But I'm an aviators kinda girl. Always have been, always will be.

If anybody cares, the sunglasses that Dan wears in some interviews and in the "Tighten Up" video are Oliver Peoples.

It's obvious: Mr. Auerbach has fantastic taste.

Also, Patrick's Ray Ban glasses will always rule.
